Manitoba Outreach Theatre Hub (MOTH) is a new initiative that was born out of a question: What can be done to better connect and support our Manitoban theatre communities? How can we support and amplify the voices of equity-seeking theatre workers? MOTH was intentionally launched as a starting point, as a way to seek the answers in and with our community. With the intention of a non partisan, artist driven support hub, we are building MOTH as we go; allowing it to evolve based on the needs we uncover, and like the moth in nature, we hope for transformation - a fully realized hub that will provide accessible resources and individualized assistance to theatre workers in Manitoba.

MOTH was formed by Manitoban theatre artists Elena Anciro, Dora Carroll, Krista Jackson, Geneviève Pelletier & Cherissa Richards. These five core collaborators founded MOTH as a non-partisan hub that will evolve and grow out of the needs in our communities.

MOTH has been sharing the stories of some amazing equity-seeking theatre artists and arts workers in our communities, allowing their voices to be amplified in their own words. These videos are the first step towards opening the door to conversation, which will be the focus of the next phase of MOTH. Check them out here!

Thank You For Sharing

We would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to the 50 theatre artists / workers who participated in MOTH's five sharing circles. It was an honour to be in conversation with you, to hear about the incredible work you are doing and your dreams for our theatre community's future. We are grateful for all the personal stories, insightful feedback and the connections we made with new and old friends. We would also like to thank everyone who expressed interest in the sharing circles and to all of you who choose to join us here on social media. We are now deep in our planning for the next phase of MOTH and preparing grant applications based on the feedback you’ve trusted us to hold. We look forward to reporting back to you on our progress, but in the meantime, you are always welcome to reach out to us. You are all part of MOTH and we are so glad to be on this journey with you.

Our deepest thanks to Delorès Gosselin, our Elder who led our sharing circles. We are profoundly grateful for her holding the space for these conversations with wisdom and love.
